The warmer weather is starting to come to an end, the leaves are slowly turning orange and it’s nearly time to crack out your ‘big coat’ – that’s right, September is here.

We’ve been taking a look at what activities and events are set to take place over the next month which could make for a fantastic family day out to make the most of those final few nights of sunshine. So here are our top picks!


Circus-themed Family Fun Day

Date: 9 Sept 2017

Looking for something extra special to get up to on September 9th? A circus-themed family fun day at Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port could be the perfect activity for you!

At the heart of the event will be a big top which will host comedy circus shows throughout the day at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm and there will also be a mini funfair area with bouncy slide and castle, dance displays, craft area plus a food and drinks area. There will also be circus skills training workshops for little ones, giving them the chance to have a go of juggling, plate spinning, beginners stilt walking and more!

General admission to the fun day is free with costs varying for some of the attractions once inside. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Chester-based charity Children Today, which raises money to provide funds for specialised equipment for children and young people up the age of 25 with disabilities. Where Comedy circus shows cost just £2.50 per person for each show (and other attraction costs vary)

Come and Try It Day

Spend your day in the great outdoors to join Moorland Adventure in a beautiful countryside setting where you’ll have the opportunity to try a number of exciting and varied activities.

There will be plenty to experience on the day including everything from climbing and abseiling to archery and orienteering!

There is a charge for taking part which is payable in advance, but as such a jam-packed day, places are sure to fill up quickly due to limited availability so be sure to register your attendance online in advance.

This event is ideal for families who are looking for something extra adventurous to take part in over the weekend, however all children must be accompanied by an adult. There’s also a small car parking charge so keep a little spare change to cover too.


Ramble with the Rangers

Date: 23 Sept 2017

Tag along with the East Cheshire Ramblers and the Rangers for a circular 6 Mile guided walk starting from Tegg’s Nose Country Park on September 23rd.

Keep your eyes peeled for signs of wildlife and enjoy the autumnal landscape all while in the company of local Ramblers!

Places are limited so be sure to book in advance and bring along a pair of wear suitable boots and clothing along with you. The route is Moderate to Strenuous and although there will be the opportunity to stop for refreshments and a shop along the way, you’re welcome to bring your own snacks with you for the journey.

 


The Chinese State Circus – Dynasty

As a truly stunning experience like no other, why not take a visit to Tatton Park between September 27th and October 1st to see the Chinese State Circus performance.

Taking place in its fully heated big top venue, the show is nothing short of breath taking. ‘Dynasty’ is an artistic performance that has thrilled audiences for years, where low-tech everyday objects are transformed into hi-tech acrobatic equipment. Prepare to see everything from hurtling porcelain jars and dynamically spinning plates, to performers balancing on gigantic pyramids of tables and chairs!

A sight that’s not to be missed, this performance is sure to leave you in awe.

Motown & Club Soul

Enjoy the sounds of the 60’s and 70’s played by national DJ’s on original vinyl, with music from Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Diana Ross and The Supremes, The Contours, Edwin Starr and many more!

A huge selection of Motown hits are guaranteed to create an atmosphere to dance the night away and the team of Soul DJ’s will play requests too!
