It’s that time of year again – the leaves are falling off the trees, evenings are getting darker and it’s time to start thinking about what Halloween costume you’re going to have this year. Yes – October is here!

Not only is this the month of muddy boots and wrapping up warm, it’s also a fantastic chance to visit all of the local events taking place in and around Cheshire! Goosfest 2017

Date: 6-22 Oct 2017

Goosfest returns this year following its 10 year anniversary in 2016. The not for profit arts and music festival is held each year in October at various venues in and round the village of Goostrey and offers a diverse programme of events including; music, theatre productions, scientific lectures, stand-up comedy or arts and crafts.

The event is set to include art exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops and musical performances by local artists including Matthew Babrielli, a photography workshop featuring an opportunity to experience "Still life photography in a studio environment" and even a course in the art of calligraphy.

Great Peak District Fair

Date: 11-13 Oct 2017

Further Info: The annual Great Peak District Fair is a free event which celebrates everything the Peak District has to offer. The event is to have over 100 exhibitors and stallholders selling and giving out free tasters of home-made produce within the Peak District, live music and demonstrations.

Twenty-five members of Peak District Artisans will be exhibiting an Autumn Showcase of their work in the Pavilion Arts Centre and there will be brass bands, falconry and special activities for children too.

Spooky Special Psychic Evening

Enjoy the magic of Halloween this year as the Church Minshull Aqueduct Marina hosts a 'spooky special' Psychic Evening on Saturday 28th October.

Transfer your energy to a pack of cards as you’re told your psychic reading and even you’re your future predicted in wax.

What’s even better is this event is open to all ages and there’s also a prize for the best fancy dress! There will also be a selection of family Halloween themed games including apple bobbing and delicious food for you to enjoy.

Nantwich Spooktacular

Date: 28 Oct 2017

Now in its eighth year, The Nantwich Spooktacular is set to return to the Nantwich Show Ground this Halloween for another evening of stunning fireworks.

Featuring a number of delicious food stalls including candy floss, toffee apples, popcorn and fairground foods, the event will also have an enormous bonfire for guests to view.

With gates opening at 5pm and the fireworks show scheduled to start between 8.00pm and 8.15pm, this is sure to be an incredible display if the previous years are anything to go by.

Tickets are now on sale and can be booked online in advanced for a discounted price, but if you fancy a last minute trip to the Spooktacula, you can also buy tickets on the door (just remember to take your cash with you as the nearest cash machine is in Nantwich Town Centre!)

 

Halloween Ghost Tours

Hear the spine chilling tales of ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night by taking part in the Ghost City Tour of Chester!

Steeped in 2,000 years of history and with many noted ghost sightings, Chester  is said to be one of the most haunted cities in Britain.

Join a night-time tour around the city, where your guide will lead you to scenes of phantom phenomena, spine-chilling happenings and macabre, sinister and supernatural events.

Ghost tours are suitable for all ages, although children under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult, with tickets starting from just £9. Just be sure to pre-book your places in advance where possible as the tours can be extremely popular, especially over the Halloween Weekend!
