VW Tiguan Allspace: All We Need to Know

Volkswagen is delivering on the Tiguan Allspace. All of the benefits of the successful Tiguan with a load of extra space. Find out what you need to know.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace takes the SUV to a whole new level with so much room inside it can comfortably fit up to seven people

Combine this with top-of-the-line handling, and advanced safety and technology systems, and the brand new VW Tiguan Allspace is an adventure waiting to happen.

So, who would want a VW Tiguan Allspace? Plain and simple - it’s in the name. The designers of this beautiful ride say that the VW Tiguan Allspace offers all of the space you will ever need in a car, and when you look at the dimensions on paper is definitely more practical than your average vehicle.

The Allspace car is available in two great configurations. The first comes with five seats, and the second option is a 5+2 setup. The VW Allspace has even more rear leg-room (60mm in fact) because it includes an additional 22 cm on the standard Volkswagen MQB platform. This also adds 115 litres to the boot capacity.

The VW Allspace certainly shares many of the styling features of the Volkswagen Tiguan but has had a few tweaks to make it stand out. The bonnet, chrome bars and grilles across the body are clearly different.

Striking Styling

Wherever you drive the all-new VW Tiguan Allspace, it will demand attention with its striking proportions and powerful presence. The distinctive wheel arches and upright front end underscore the masculine nature of its SUV style.

Leather rear car seats

You’ll never mistake the brand new VW Tiguan Allspace for another car because the innovative, imaginative features give it a great look, such as the distinct shape of the available LED lights. The Dynamic Light Assist looks impressive and ensures that the drivers of oncoming traffic are never blinded.

Aside from the re-designed bonnet and grilles, there are few other changes in style between the standard Tiguan and the Allspace. The interior remains the same with a great infotainment system and high quality materials, but larger side windows and a stretched roofline mean that externally at least, the differences are clear. Well-received in other VW models, the Active Info Display is available on higher trim levels.

Any of the choice of wheels will blend perfectly into this new design and round out the vehicle’s character. It’s an elegant ride that’s both sporty and refined.

Six Engine Choices

With the VW Tiguan Allspace, you have no less than six choices of engines brought over from the standard Tiguan - three petrol engines and three diesel engines.

There is a 1.4-litre, 150PS TSI petrol engine and two 2.0-litre units that should produce 180 and 220 PS.

Where diesel is concerned, the 2.0-litre TDI, 150PS will be the standard engine from launch. A 2.0-litre, 180PS will also be available, but a 240 HP Bi-TDI diesel engine will be the top choice for those requiring more oomph. AS with most VWs, a 4MOTION option will also be thrown in for good measure!

Interior and Utility

There is no doubt that the interior design of the VW Tiguan Allspace is ergonomically friendly with the centre console slightly angled towards the driver. This is great for all of those long road trips with up to fit five adults comfortably seated and a couple of children taking advantage of the rear pop-up seats.

The Allspace offers great views from the panoramic tilt and slide sunroof so you can gaze up and see the stars at night and benefit from extra light bouncing around the cabin during the day. The front glass of the sunroof can be opened, raised or lowered through the console. At night, your passengers will be impressed by the subtle ambient lighting on the door handles, doors and trim.

With the seats up or down you’ll find all kinds of room. A healthy 230-litre boot to work with, even with all 7 seats in use, and with all rear seats down, you’ll have an outstanding 1,775 litres of cargo space to work with (about 120 litres more than the standard Tiguan).

Upgraded Technology Features

The tech features on offer are some of the best qualities of this SUV. It has a glass-front radio and navigation system along with an intuitive touchscreen display which makes a world of difference when you’re on the move. You can customize the Active Info Display at will to concentrate on preferred features, such as the speedometer and the odometer.

A great addition is the optional head-up display that means you never have to take your eyes off the road while driving. It displays pertinent info right in the driver’s line of sight.

Are you team Apple or Android? Either way, with the all-new VW Tiguan Allspace you can connect to your smartphone with ease.

With the Car-Net guide you get real-time info on local features if you ever need to stop for petrol or just want to know where to go take a walk in a park or beach. Car-Net will know exactly where to take you.

Fed up of all the charging cables in your car? Don’t worry because your new car comes equipped with a wireless charger. Just stick your Qi-enabled phone in the front storage compartment and you’re good to go.

The VW Tiguan Allspace has a huge list of active and passive safety features. Car-Net Security and Service will auto connect you to an emergency response call centre in the event that something untoward happens. The vehicle has crash sensors so your info will automatically be sent to the call centre. If you happen to see an accident then you can also call it in using the three button module.

On top of all this, the VW Tiguan Allspace also includes an optional Traffic Jam Assist system that keeps your vehicle in its lane, and automatically applies the accelerator and brake to avoid stop-start driving.

And when you do want to stop, parking is a cinch with Area View that offers you 12 different camera angle views, and if you have a trailer the optional Trailer Assist system can operate the accelerator and brake for you. The Park Assist Function can measure the spaces at the side of the street as you drive past, and when it finds a spot it can take over the steering and parallel or perpendicular park for you!
