Volkswagen releases prices and specs for new Polo

Volkswagen has revealed that its new Polo will start from £17,885.

The facelifted model, which can be ordered now, hits the road with a revised exterior look, a more premium-feeling cabin and extra technology compared with its predecessor.

Kicking off in ‘Life’ trim, the Polo features LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and an eight-inch digital cockpit display.

Next is Style, which is where you’ll find front and rear parking sensors alongside 16-inch alloy wheels, two-zone climate control and Volkswagen’s Discover Navigation infotainment system.

At the top of the Polo’s list of specifications is R-Line. This gains sporty touches such as reshaped bumpers and 16-inch alloy wheels, while inside there are stainless steel pedals, a black roof lining and sports comfort seat.

Both Style and R-Line trim levels kick off from £20,785, though drivers can customise their Polo thanks to a variety of different options including ‘Vibrant Violet’ paint and a series of 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels. There’s also the option of a Sports Suspension Pack which includes ‘dynamic’ suspension and Volkswagen’s XDS electronic differential which has already been used on the firm’s Golf GTI.

In terms of petrol engines, the Polo starts with an entry-level 1.0-litre engine with 79bhp and a five-speed manual gearbox. This is then followed by a turbocharged 1.0-litre engine with outputs ranging from 94bhp to 108bhp, while there’s also the option of either a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
