Volkswagen ID.4 GTX goes on sale in the UK

Volkswagen has announced that its sporty ID.4 GTX is now on sale with stronger performance and racier styling.

Volkswagen has announced that its sporty ID.4 GTX is now on sale, with prices starting from £48,510. It’s the first model from the firm to wear the GTX badge, which signals stronger performance and racier styling, with the nameplate set to be used on future sporty electric Volkswagens.

This is also the first outing for a dual-motor powertrain in a Volkswagen, which enables four-wheel-drive. The motors produce a combined 295bhp and 310Nm of torque, enabling a 0-60mph time of six seconds, which is not only more powerful but also quicker to 60mph than a Golf GTI. Its 112mph top speed is also 13mph more than the regular ID.4 SUV.

The ID.4 GTX is more than just performance, with Volkswagen tweaking the suspension and steering for a sportier drive. Despite this sportiness, the use of a large 77kWh battery means that this Volkswagen is capable of up to a claimed 301 miles on a single charge. It can also charge at up to 125kW, which enables 199 miles of range to be added in 30 minutes.

Prices kick off from £48,510 for the standard GTX, with equipment including a 12-inch touchscreen, augmented reality head-up display and Matrix LED headlights. A top-spec ‘Max’ version is also offered, adding sports seats, three-zone climate control and additional driver assistance technology. Dynamic chassis control is also included with this version, enabling drivers to tweak the chassis for either comfort or sportiness, depending on what’s required.
