Five upcoming electric vehicles worth getting excited about.
Volkswagen I.D 3
It’s a tough thing to try to take some of the legendary popularity of the Golf and transplant it into a modern EV, but that’s just what Volkswagen is attempting to do with the upcoming I.D 3. The car itself isn’t too showy nor too space age, but incorporates some clever features designed to ensure that it slots neatly into people’s day-to-day lives.
Five doors and five seats mean it has the practicality box ticked, and first deliveries are expected towards the end of the year.

MG 5
You might not expect MG to become a forerunner in the EV race, but it’s certainly gaining headway when it comes to well-priced electric cars. Take the new MG 5 for instance. It’s set to become the UK’s first electric estate car, yet thanks to MG’s competitive pricing, it’s unlikely to break the bank.
Expected to feature a 215-mile range, the MG 5 could be a great choice for those who want to get into the EV segment but don’t want a wallet-bursting price tag to deal with.
Audi e-tron S
At the other end of the spectrum comes the e-tron S, which is Audi’s first electric performance car. It takes the strides already made by the regular e-tron but adds genuine, supercar-scaring performance into the mix.
Thanks to a three-motor setup, the e-tron S kicks out a hefty 496bhp, which allows for a 0-60mph time of just 4.5 seconds.
Citroen e-C4
The latest generation C4 really made waves when it was announced and it was this - the e-C4 - which really got people talking. With striking looks and a classy interior, the e-C4 is an EV for those who want something a little different.
It gets the fundamentals right though, thanks to a 200-mile range. Expect Citroen to price the e-C4 extremely competitively when it goes on sale this December.
Volvo XC40 Recharge P8
Volvo has already made a firm commitment to electrifying its cars and it’s why you’ll find that the vast majority of vehicles in its line-up feature some form of battery assistance. The XC40 Recharge P8, however, is its first model which uses only electric power, with not an engine in sight.
Priced at £53,000, the Recharge uses two electric motors and features a claimed electric range of up to 249 miles from a charge.
