The incident saw the animal find its way on to the motorway between junctions 1 and 2 near Bristol on Saturday around 7.30pm.

It forced the motorway’s closure in both directions in the area, leading to some amusing footage and comments from stranded motorists.
One Twitter user posted a video of police trying – and failing – to get hold of the bull.

Another suggested riding it to escape the chaos, saying:
Tempted to jump on the bulls [sic] back to get into town. A lot quicker than a car on current form.
Another frustrated motorist caught in the jam tweeted:
Can’t they get the traffic MOOving along already?
