What 21 Plate Car should I get this year?

We outline the best cars to get with a 21 plate in 2021...

With the days whistling past, somehow March is already upon us. And while 2021 has already proved to be a difficult time for retailers, the month brings added hope with the introduction of a new number plate.

We move to a 21-plate in March this year, and there are a whole host of new and exciting models which look set to wear it. Let’s take a look.

audi e-tron gt

Audi e-tron GT

The e-tron GT arrives as Audi’s range-topping EV, bringing supercar performance with zero emissions. With four seats this EV brings space and comfort to the class, while also delivering acceleration that’ll leave many combustion engined cars left for dead.

An even more powerful RS version is also hitting the market at the same time, bringing even more in the way of performance.

citroen c4

Citroen C4

Citroen’s latest C4 is a striking-looking thing, with a design which represents a distinct departure from the aesthetics of the car it replaces. This is mirrored in the cabin, too, where you’ll find plenty of high-end materials and clever displays.

It’s available with the choice of petrol and diesel engines too, as well as a new electric powertrain.

cupra formentor

CUPRA Formentor

Up until this point CUPRA’s cars had essentially been restyled versions of Seat models, but the new Formentor represents the first time that the performance brand has released its own ground-up model.

It’s available with a variety of powetrains - including a powerful plug-in hybrid - while a variety of styling touches ensure that it turns heads wherever it goes.

jaguar f pace

Jaguar F-Pace

Jaguar Land Rover is in the process of updating nearly all of its models and nowhere is this more evident than with the Jaguar F-Pace. Though the exterior remains largely unchanged, the interior has been radically transformed with a new infotainment system and more luxurious materials.

The engines have been cleaned up, too, though a high-performance SVR variant remains at the top of the tree.

peugeot 3008

Peugeot is on a roll with the styling of its cars and it’s fair to say that its updated 3008 is a continuation of this. This facelifted model gains a sharper exterior design and eye-catching LED lighting.

Petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains are available, ensuring that there’s a setup for all buyers.

seat leon

SEAT’s latest Leon is based on a new platform, which means that it’s more spacious and practical than ever. The exterior hasn’t lost any of that trademark Spanish flair, mind you, while the interior is more tech-heavy than ever before.

There’s the option of a more practical estate model, too, while a plug-in hybrid variant gives buyers a low-emissions option too.

volkswagen id 4

Volkswagen ID.4

Volkswagen has already signalled its EV intent with the ID.3 and is looking to keep the momentum going with the larger ID.4. Incorporating similarly striking looks as its smaller stablemate, the ID.4 arrives with a headline electric range of 310 miles - though less expensive models with smaller ranges are set to join the fray soon.

It’s initially being offered in high-end 1st Edition trim, which brings a whole host of standard features.
