SEAT Ateca given refresh for 2020

Seat has bolstered the appeal of its popular Ateca SUV with a range of updates and additions for 2020.

First introduced in 2016, the Ateca was one of the Spanish firm’s first forays into the flourishing SUV segment. More than 300,000 were sold across Europe in fact, with its popularity prompting the introduction of the smaller Arona and seven-seat Tarraco into the firm’s line-up of SUVs.

Now, SEAT has seen fit to update the Ateca to breathe new life into the model. It now benefits from a redesigned front grille as a result, while the LED headlights have been given an updated design. Both front and rear bumpers have been remodelled too, causing the car’s overall length to expand by 18mm - though width remains unaffected.

Around the back, drivers will find updated rear lights and exhaust coverings while one of the biggest additions is the new handwriting-style badging, which is similar to that seen on Seat’s latest Leon model.

The interior remains much the same, though the car’s infotainment system has been overhauled both in terms of size and location. Either 8.2  or 9.2 inches in size, it’s been angled towards the driver to make it far easier to use. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been fitted as standard, meaning that drivers have a seamless way of integrating their smartphone into the car’s system.

A new range-topping Xperience trim level has been included too, bringing black-coloured front and rear bumpers as well as additional styling touches.

A range of petrol and diesel powertrains are available with the new Ateca, as well as a new 1.5-litre mild-hybrid setup - ideal for those looking for lower emissions.
