Which awards have Peugeot won this year?

PEUGEOT e-2008 awarded Which? Best Buy status

The PEUGEOT e-2008 has been awarded ‘Best Buy’ status by leading consumer expert Which?. The ‘Which? Best Buy’ status comes after the full electric PEUGEOT e-2008 impressed the jurors in a road test that highlighted the car’s stylish design, low running costs and host of safety kit as standard. Within their review, the Which? team assessed the full electric PEUGEOT e-2008 against strict criteria, looking at factors including road handling, reliability, comfort and how economical the car is to run. Launched commercially in 2020, the PEUGEOT e-2008 was the second full electric model to be introduced as part of PEUGEOT’s electrification strategy to provide a fully electrified range by 2025.

The PEUGEOT e-2008 is built with a 100kW 136hp electric motor and a 50kWh battery, capable of up to 206 miles of zero emissions range (WLTP) from a single charge. Using 100kW rapid charging, an 80% charge takes as little as 30 minutes. The model features PEUGEOT’s award-winning 3D i-Cockpit® with a compact multifunction steering wheel, a configurable 3D head-up display panel and either a seven or 10-inch HD capacitive colour touchscreen. The model comes fitted with the latest advanced technologies, including PEUGEOT Connect SOS and Assistance, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Lane Positioning Assist and Mirror Screen® with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto connectivity. In addition, via the MyPEUGEOT App, battery charging and vehicle cabin pre-conditioning can be managed remotely via the e-remote control.

Which? said: “The e-2008 builds on the stylish charm of its combustion counterpart and adds a refined (and potentially very cheap) drive. Its range is adequate for most journeys and there’s plenty of space inside, despite its relatively compact dimensions.”

Which? is the UK’s largest consumer organisation, with 1.35 million members and supporters. Each month Which? provides updates on its ‘Best Buy’ products after extensive, independent tests on hundreds of products, from TVs to coffee machines. Which? looks at every aspect of the product’s performance and measure it against strict criteria, along with input from scientists that match how consumers use the product in the real world. Only products that excel in their field are awarded the prestigious ‘Best Buy’ badge.

Julie David, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said: “It is a great privilege to have our full electric PEUGEOT e-2008 named as a Which? Best Buy product. As one of the UK’s leading consumer champions, Which? is an expert at identifying the best products for customers, and recognition for the e-2008 is testament to the hard work that has gone into our electric range. We hope that the Which? Best Buy status will be an added incentive for drivers considering making the switch over to EV.”

Following the recent government announcement to cut the Plug-in Car Grant to £2,500, PEUGEOT revised its pricing for a selection of e-2008 models to reinforce the brand’s commitment to affordable electrification. A reduction of £450 means Active Premium, Allure and Allure Premium models remain eligible for the new grant, with prices starting from £30,730 following the Plug-in Car grant.

The PEUGEOT e-2008 is available to order from PEUGEOT Retailers and via PEUGEOT Buy Online, where customers can configure and order their vehicle entirely online. PEUGEOT Buy Online reinforces PEUGEOT’s new brand promise of creating quality experiences for customers and ensuring their time is well-spent, by making purchasing a car online simple and convenient. Peugeot e-208 and 2008 collect double honours at DieselCar & EcoCar

Not only was the PEUGEOT e-208 the recipient of the Best Electric Supermini at this year’s awards, it also placed fourth overall in the DieselCar & EcoCar Top 50 models on sale for 2021. Praised for its innovative interior design as well as generous suite of driver aids, including its infotainment system and large boot, the full electric e-208’s impressive 217-mile range (WLTP) was also a key factor in its award win. Featuring a 50kWh battery connected to a 100kW (136hp) electric motor, the PEUGEOT e-208 also supports up to 100kW rapid charging with a 0 - 80% charge taking just 30 minutes.

Similarly, the PEUGEOT 2008’s modern look was an appealing factor in its category win, this time for the Best Compact SUV. The model’s strong design with upright grille and distinctive ‘tooth’ design LED day time running lights is just one of elements that received a string of positive comments from DieselCar & EcoCar, alongside highlighting the 2008’s neat handling, efficient petrol, diesel or electric powertrain options and PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® featuring a 3D Digital Instrument Panel as key selling points.

Ian Robertson, Editor of DieselCar & EcoCar said:“The PEUGEOT e-208 stunned us on the road and feels poised and agile, and with a 217-mile range, it’s our favourite electric supermini this year. The 2008’s strong design, which when backed up with its efficient powertrain options, made it the obvious choice for our Best Compact SUV award this year. PEUGEOT has come in strong at this year’s awards, with two further models, the 3008 and 5008, also being placed in our Top 50 New Car listings.”

DieselCar & Eco Car recognised both the new PEUGEOT 3008 and 5008 as being vehicles of note, placing the 3008 in 12th place and the 5008 in 31st place in its ‘Top 50’ models on sale this year.

A past Top 50 winner, the new PEUGEOT 3008 was again praised for its choice of plug-in HYBRID powertrains, offering a choice of 225hp two-wheel drive or 300hp four-wheel drive versions, both providing strong on road performance and sharp handling. With an electric range of up to 40 miles, and CO2 from 29 g/km, company car drivers choosing the HYBRID4 300 benefit from a 4% saving in BIK 2021/22.

The new PEUGEOT 5008’s recent facelift was the centre of its praise, with its looks and lines described as striking by DieselCar & EcoCar. Featuring a modular 7 seat interior as standard, its excellent headroom in all seats was also a point of high value. Its generous 702-litre boot (with row three seats stowed) which expands to a huge 1,940 litres when rows two and three are folded flat, was also particularly favoured.

Julie David, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said: “I am delighted to hear the news from DieselCar & EcoCar that the PEUGEOT e-208 and 2008 have been named winners in the 2021 awards. We are thrilled to see our work being held in such high-regard, and are grateful for the recognition in the Best Electric Supermini and Best Compact SUV categories.”

The DieselCar & EcoCar magazine ‘Top 50’ is a listing of the greatest and most capable cars on sale in the UK this year. The winners are selected using a meticulous and all-inclusive scoring system to ensure that the front-runners are truly the best cars in each category. Full details of the awards will be featured in the DieselCar & EcoCar July 2021 issue, on stands on 11th June 2021.

The PEUGEOT e-208 and 2008 are available to buy via PEUGEOT Retailers and Buy Online, where customers can configure and order their vehicle entirely from the comfort of their own home. PEUGEOT Buy Online makes purchasing a car online simple and convenient, enabling customers to configure their vehicle, obtain a part exchange valuation, personalise their finance options and complete their purchase, all securely online.

All things considered, the e-208 is the best small electric car you can buy. It has a good real-world range, the suspension does a great job of keeping you comfortable, and the interior is as eye-catching as it is classy. We particularly like the Allure Premium version, because it's attractively priced, but still comes with loads of kit, including climate control, wireless phone charging and a 10.0in infotainment system with phone mirroring.

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said:

The all-new e-208 is our first new generation full electric vehicle, and it’s great to see it immediately recognised by both the industry and the buying public. At PEUGEOT, we’re following a unique philosophy around the ‘power of choice’ that allows buyers to choose the right powertrain that suits their needs. Our electric vehicles come with the same practical features as their petrol or diesel vehicle counterparts, with no compromise in capability, interior space or technology. We are very honoured to receive the ‘Electric Small Car of the Year’ award from What Car?

Peugeot 3008 SUV rated Britain's "Best Mid-Sized SUV

The Peugeot 3008 SUV has been named ‘Best Mid-Size SUV’ by owners in the Driver Power Survey 2020, for the third year running. In addition to this accolade, the 3008 SUV was named as the second most satisfying vehicle to own overall.

peugeot 3008

Driver Power is the UK’s number one car customer satisfaction survey, conducted by one of the UK’s leading automotive titles Auto Express.

New car owners rank their vehicles across nine categories, made up of 31 different areas – including how well their vehicle drives and handles, exterior and interior design, whether the engine and gearbox are smooth and refined, as well as a comprehensive analysis of build quality and reliability.

The survey gives potential buyers a complete picture of vehicle ownership.

The Peugeot 3008 SUV has been a firm favourite amongst customers since its launch in late 2016, having sold over 900,000 worldwide and over 60,000 in the UK.

In addition, the 3008 SUV has received 22 UK awards since launch, over 65 International awards, and was named the 2017 European Car of the Year.

Starting from £26,405 OTR, the Peugeot 3008 SUV has a choice of five trim levels (Active, Allure, GT Line, GT Line Premium and GT) and follows the ‘choose your Peugeot, choose your powertrain’ philosophy, with Two-Wheel Drive and Four-Wheel Drive plug-in hybrid variants, HYBRID and HYBRID4, available as well as efficient PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel powertrains.

Steve Fowler, Editor in Chief of Auto Express, said:

Several years after going on sale, the Peugeot 3008 SUV is still wooing owners with its looks. That great styling is backed up by solid build quality and strong reliability, with an impressively low proportion of owners telling of issues. The 3008 SUV’s interior is handsome, spacious and well-thought-out, with a host of child-friendly features that make the 3008 SUV a perfect car for families. It’s no surprise that owners rated it Britain's Best Mid-Size SUV, and the second most-satisfying car to own overall.

David Peel, PEUGEOT UK Managing Director, said:

We’re absolutely delighted the 3008 SUV has been named the Driver Power ‘Best Mid-Size SUV’ for the third year running. Customer satisfaction is our highest priority, so to see our 3008 SUV ranked number 1 in its category, and second overall, by owners, is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Peugeot makes history by winning the prestigious ‘Car Of The Year‘ award.

The all-new Peugeot 208 has become the sixth Peugeot model to win Europe’s most prestigious automotive award.

The COTY jury, composed of 60 automotive experts across Europe, praised the all-new PEUGEOT 208 for its sharp and dynamic design and its distinctive customer offering in the sector. The all-new 208 is the first vehicle to fulfil PEUGEOT’s new philosophy of ‘choose your PEUGEOT, choose your powertrain’, and from launch will be available with a fully electric variant, the e-208, as well as a range of efficient diesel and petrol engines.

Judges were also impressed by the high levels of technology offered in the all-new 208. The next-generation PEUGEOT 3D i-Cockpit® introduces innovative hologram technology. The 3D holograms, displayed on the configurable 3D head-up display, get closer to the drivers’ field of vision to highlight potential hazards.

The all-new 208 also features driving assistance technologies usually reserved for larger vehicle segments, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Active Lane Positioning Assist, and comes standard with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto connectivity.

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said:

The Car of the Year title is arguably one of the most coveted awards in the industry. To be recognised in the final seven vehicles is already a great achievement for the all-new PEUGEOT 208, and is just reward for the hard work we’ve put into developing the vehicle. The all-new 208 is the first vehicle to follow our vision of offering electric, petrol and diesel powertrains in a single model, and the COTY nomination suggests the industry is just as excited about the all-new 208 as we are.

PEUGEOT has won a total of six COTY awards, with 3008 SUV claiming the 2017 COTY title. Founded in 1964, the COTY award is the most coveted prize in the automotive industry.

By 2023, PEUGEOT has promised to offer its entire line-up with an electrified variant.

Peugeot has won Europe’s most coveted automotive award, the "Car Of The Year” title for the sixth time, becoming only the third brand to do so.

The prestigious trophy was presented to the all-new Peugeot 208 after being judged by an independent jury of 60 European automotive journalists.

Peugeot has previously won the award five times across five different vehicles.  These include

  • 504 sedan (1969)
  • 405 sedan (1988)
  • 307 hatchback (2002)
  • 308 hatchback (2014)
  • 3008 SUV (2017)

The 3008 SUV was the first SUV to win the award since its creation in 1964.

The Peugeot brand's record reflects the outstanding design, technical innovation and performance of its vehicles over the last 50 years.

The all-new Peugeot 208 has become the sixth Peugeot model to win Europe’s most prestigious automotive award.

With a sharp design, engaging driving dynamics and clever use of technology, the all-new 208 was awarded the “Car Of The Year” title by more than 60 leading European automotive journalists.

With a choice of both efficient petrol and diesel engines, as well as a full electric variant, the all-new 208 forms a part of Peugeot’s new strategy of “unboring the future” by giving drivers the power of choice: “choose your Peugeot, choose your powertrain.”

The all-new Peugeot e-208 represents a new leap in the world of electric mobility.

With a range of 217 miles (under WLTP testing), its 100 kW (136 bhp) electric motor with 260 Nm of torque (available from 0mph) enables it to go from 0-62mph in just 8.1 seconds.

The all-new Peugeot e-208 also features three driving modes: Sport, Normal and Eco.

The all-new Peugeot 208 has already received 130,000 orders in Europe, including 15% for the electric e-208 since its launch in September 2019.

Peugeot 504: Where it all started

In 1969, the Peugeot 504 was the first ever PEUGEOT to win this award.

The 504 followed in the technical footsteps of the Peugeot 404, and featured a four-wheel independent suspension system, a Peugeot first on a rear-wheel drive system.

Its unique aesthetics were the result of the close collaboration between Peugeot and Pininfarina.

peugeot 504

The Italian design house was responsible for the lateral lines and the famous rear end, and Peugeot for the front end, of which the Italian designer later said - after having given up showing his own project - that it "has the eyes of Sophia Loren!"

The Peugeot 504 was also crowned “Queen of the Track” thanks to its legendary sturdiness, and won many of the main African rallies including: the East African Safari, the Morocco Rally and the Bandama Rally.

The 504 was produced from 1968 to 2005, with 3,713,356 units sold. Of these 2,644,326 were sedans.

Peugeot 405: A near unanimous vote

Nearly two decades later, another sedan, the Peugeot 405, won 'Car Of The Year' in 1988. No less than 54 out of 57 judges gave it the highest score.

With aesthetic features similar to the Peugeot 205, the 405 embodied both driving pleasure and comfort.

It also incorporated new technologies, including ABS brakes and a 1.9 turbo diesel engine with 90hp.

peugeot 405

The Peugeot 405 also featured an Mi16 variant, a real benchmark at the time, using the most efficient engine technology of the time, the 4-valve-per-cylinder system developed 160bhp.

It was at the wheel of a rally-raid coupé version of the 405, that Finnish rally legend Ari Vatanen won the 1989 and 1990 editions of the Paris-Dakar.

The rally-raid coupé shared many of the components with the iconic 205 Turbo 16.

Driving a 405 T16, Ari Vatanen also won the 1988 and 1989 editions of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the US. In doing so, Vatanen’s exploits were captured in the iconic "Climb Dance" film which has reached cult status among racing circles.

The 405 sold more than five million units worldwide.

Peugeot 307: The hatchback that rose to new heights

The Peugeot 307 achieved the perfect balance of performance, practicality and affordability in the new generation of compact family cars coming onto the market. It earned the "Car Of The Year" title in 2002, just 14 years after the Peugeot 405.

The Peugeot 307’s attractive and dynamic exterior design was inspired by that of the Peugeot 206, but came with a better drivers’ eye view, thanks to a larger windscreen.

peugeot 307

Its spacious, functional and versatile interior was inspired by the world of MPVs, while drivers and passengers praised its quiet cabin. The Peugeot 307 was equipped with the cleanest diesel engine of its time, the 2.0 HDi 110 hp with a diesel particulate filter.

The Peugeot 307 was also the first to feature a wide range of body styles: hatchback, SW (Station Wagon) and CC (Coupé-Cabriolet).

The 307 also featured in the World Rally Championship between 2004 and 2005 as the 307 WRC.

More than 3.7 million Peugeot 307s were sold worldwide.

Peugeot 308: Elegant and dynamic design

For the 2014 winner, the Peugeot 308, designers and engineers came up with a modern hatchback with a racy design.

Thanks to the new modular EMP2 platform, the latest Peugeot 308 has compact dimensions and a lighter mass (140kg or 308lbs compared to its predecessor) which helped it achieve class-leading handling and driving dynamics.

peugeot 308

The 308 also features Peugeot’s innovative i-Cockpit®, and comes with a compact steering wheel, a head-up display, a high centre console and a large 9.7" touchscreen.

The Peugeot i-Cockpit®, inspired by the SR1 concept car, set a new standard in the automotive world, and is now a major distinguishing feature of all Peugeot vehicles.

More than 1.7 million units of the Peugeot 308 have been sold worldwide since its launch at the end of 2013.

Peugeot 3008 SUV: First SUV awarded  to be “Car of the Year”

The Peugeot 3008 SUV became the first-ever SUV to win the “Car of the Year” title in 2017, and embodied Peugeot’s upmarket move as a brand.

The 3008 SUV was noted for its sharp design, engaging driving dynamics and its comfortable and spacious cabin.

The 3008 SUV was also the launch pad for a new generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit®, known as "Amplify", offering a more intuitive driving experience, in addition to being a gateway to advanced driver assistance functions and connectivity features.

Thanks to Advanced Grip Control®, three grip modes ensure the Peugeot 3008 SUV is both at home in urban areas as well as off the beaten path.

In 2016, Peugeot Sport presented the 3008 DKR off-road racer, which won the iconic Dakar Rally in 2017, with an impressive 1-2-3 result.

More than 900,000 Peugeot 3008 SUVs have been sold worldwide since its launch in October 2016.

The COTY panel: an assembly of European experts

60 independent automotive journalists from 23 countries made up the COTY panel (Car Of The Year) this year.

The number of representatives from a country depends on the size of its market and the prominence of its automotive industry. Germany, Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom have six members. The other countries with panels are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

The COTY panel awards a single winner each year. The winner denotes the most remarkable vehicle, whatever the segment, shape and price, sold in the 12 months preceding the awarding of the trophy. Technical innovation and value for money are the most closely analysed criteria. The COTY prize has existed since 1964: it is the oldest and most coveted trophy in the automotive world.

Going straight in at the top as our favourite used car, the 3008 SUV is now more than three years old, although that’s hard to believe thanks to its fresh, original, crisp styling. This thoroughly modern SUV is arguably even more distinctive inside, where PEUGEOT’s i-Cockpi interior sees digital instruments perched on top of the dashboard as standard. The driver is cocooned by a wrap-around centre console and the textile trim looks as good as it feels.

Peugeot 3008 SUV

Not only that, but it has a practical 591-litre boot, is great to drive and has clean 1.5L,1.6L or 2.0L BlueHDi engines. The upgraded EAT8 automatic transmission is worth a try too, offering smooth progress and 50mpg-plus economy when paired with the smallest diesel engine.

The PEUGEOT RCZ, in production between 2010 and 2015, was praised for its distinctive ‘double-bubble’ roof and stylish looks. The performance from the 1.6L THP and 2.0L BlueHDi engines was also noted by judges, as was the RCZ’s handling and balance. This year’s win marks the third consecutive win in the Sports Car category for the RCZ.

Robertson added:

Despite being out of production, the RCZ’s exterior styling still looks fresh. The ‘double-bubble’ roof will go down in car design history. It’s excellent to drive too, with a low centre of gravity and a widened track elevating its handling above its humble PEUGEOT 308 roots. The 161BHP 2.0L diesel engine is lusty and economical, while GT versions get leather seats and attractive 19-inch alloy wheels.

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK said:

It’s fantastic to see two of our models top the Diesel Car & Eco Car ‘Used Car Top 50 2020’ awards. The RCZ, thanks to its unique design and driving dynamics, has already gained a cult following and is surely set to be a future classic. The 3008 SUV winning the Used Car of the Year award shows how well engineered the family SUV is, as it continues to impress UK drivers year after year with its combination of style, performance and efficiency. We’ve also worked hard over the years to ensure our residual values remain strong and competitive, and are seeing very healthy results across our model range.

Peugeot takes home two awards at the annual What Car? Car of the year awards

For the third year in a row, the PEUGEOT 5008 SUV 1.2 PureTech 130 Allure has won the ‘Large SUV’ award at the 2020 What Car? Car of the Year Awards, one of the most important and prestigious awards ceremonies in the UK automotive industry.

What Car?’s team of judges picked the 5008 SUV ahead of key rivals, including the Mazda CX-5 and Audi Q5. The 5008 SUV 1.2 PureTech 130 Allure was praised for its practicality – capable of seating up to seven – and an interior that features the latest connectivity and safety technologies. Judges were also left impressed by the low running costs from the award-winning 1.2 PureTech petrol engine.

The 2020 category win marks the third year the 5008 SUV has won the award, confirming its place at the top of the class, despite a host of new rivals arriving each year, reinforcing JD Power’s decision to award PEUGEOT the ‘Most Reliable Brand’ title in 2018.

peugeot 5008

The 5008 SUV features a class-leading interior, with seven individual seats. The third row can be folded down, as well as fully removed, the second row seats are all adjustable and benefit from ISOFIX fittings, while the front passenger seat also folds flat to accommodate long items.

PEUGEOT’s i-Cockpit® technology helps drivers stay safe on the road with its compact, multi-function steering wheel, 12.3-inch head-up display and 8.0-inch colour touchscreen with Mirrorscreen®. Also included is Autonomous Emergency Braking and Active Blind Spot Detection (available as standard from Allure trim level upwards).

Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, said:

One of the main priorities for Large SUV buyers is space and practicality, and no rival can hold a candle to the PEUGEOT 5008 SUV in this regard. With seven seats, a sliding middle row and a big, well thought-out boot, it offers more than some SUVs costing nearly twice as much, all the while delivering comfort and interior quality to take on the lot.

The all-new PEUGEOT 208 1.2 PureTech 100 Allure also won the ‘Best Small Car for more than £18,000’ award at the What Car? Car of the Year awards, with judges praising “its jaw-dropping style, with a better ride than rivals and a raft of safety technology, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance and traffic sign recognition.”

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said:

It’s fantastic to start the New Year by collecting awards from one of the most prestigious and influential motoring titles in the UK. The What Car? Car of the Year Awards are a great indicator of which models will perform well in the coming year. Our 5008 SUV continues to be a favourite among both motorists and industry experts, winning yet another ‘Large SUV’ of the year award, while the all-new 208 has won a price category award – suggesting another strong year ahead for PEUGEOT.

The all-new PEUGEOT 208 is the first vehicle to fulfil PEUGEOT’s new vision of “unboring the future” by giving drivers the option to “choose your PEUGEOT, choose your powertrain.” It is available with a range of fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines, as well as a fully electric variant, the all-new e-208. By 2023, PEUGEOT has promised to offer electrified variants across its entire model line-up.
