If you’re local to Staffordshire and have a sweet tooth just like us, chances are you’ve heard of Oatcakes and Milkshakes! We couldn’t resist catching up with the team, and interviewed Director, Jay
Oatcakes and Milkshakes, being surrounded by so much sugary goodness day in day out must either be a blessing or a curse! Do you have to control your sweet tooth each time you’re in the shop?
It’s very hard too, as you can imagine having all the chocolate bars and ice creams around you every day! But when you’re working with it every day, you do learn to control your sweet tooth, until we bring something new out!
Your Monster Shakes are famous across Staffordshire! With the release of your new 2017 range, we have to ask, what makes a great shake?
Our main focus has always been the taste! We would never want to make a shake which looks fantastic, but tastes plain & boring. Our shakes taste just as good as they look!
You certainly don’t skimp on your sizes, but if you could choose only one of your shakes to drink from now on, which would it be and why?
100% Bubblegum millions! I don’t know why, but if I ever need a boost me up shake, bubblegum millions always does the job!
As much as we love a milkshake, it’s got to be said that you’re oatcakes are second to none! What’s your most popular?
Bacon & Cheese double for sure!
You’ve recently been awarded Oatcake Shop of the Year 2017, what does it mean to you to be recognised for your hard work?
It was such a shock to us! When we were nominated, we didn’t expect to win it considering we have only been around just over a year and we are still improving/finding our feet. It was such a lovely night, we took all the family along to the event & the look on all our faces when they announced we had won! It’s still a great feeling now when we look back at it, we are so grateful for everyone who took the time to vote.
With 2 branches in Stone and Stafford, are there any plans to open more stores in the future?
We sure are! We have a big announcement which we are hoping to announce in the next 4-6 months, we can’t wait!
We notice that you promote your business primarily through your Facebook and Instagram pages, how do you make the time for posting such great content when your ques are out of the door?!
I work in the shop myself most days, me and my brother run the social media accounts. As soon as we shut the shop for the day, we go straight on the facebook page so answer any questions our customers may have messaged. We also love looking on Instagram at the amazing pictures people take, which we then share for others to see!
