New SEAT Ateca teased ahead of launch

By Swansway Motor Group 16-06-2020

SEAT ’s huge sales success has been given a bunch of new features for 2020.

SEAT has teased its new Ateca SUV with a glimpse at its rear end design.

Since being introduced in 2016, it has proved to be a hugely successful model for the Spanish firm, shifting more than 300,000 units globally. More than 10 per cent of those were in the UK alone.

Ahead of its reveal on June 15, Seat has given us our best look yet at the updated Ateca through a barely disguised photo of the boot and rear lights. Much like the changes given to the SEAT Leon, the new Ateca gets model-specific badging. Those rear lights appear to have been given a minor design tweak, while the ‘4’ badge to the bottom right indicated an all-wheel drive variant will continue to be offered.

An aluminium-style rear diffuser is just about visible too, which helps to freshen up the design and give it a more rugged look.

SEAT has given a few hints at what to expect technology-wise, with a ‘fully connected experience’ promised along with new safety equipment and an updated engine range. While further details are thin on the ground, it’s likely to mimic the updates given to the new Leon, such as a 10-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster.

It’s also likely that SEAT ’s performance arm CUPRA will continue to offer a go-faster version, though this has not yet been confirmed.
