If money were no object what car would you drive? We take a look at how little or how much it costs to drive your dream car

Most of us have dreams about the car we’d drive if money was no object, maybe a lottery win, or when all the kids have flown the nest or just a delicious daydream!

Some of these cars may be more attainable than you think and even if they’re not, it’s good to dream.

We asked our teams to come up with the car from their brand that they’d most like to own if money was no object and here are their choices.

Find out more about the Volkswagen XL1

Volkswagen XL1

Where to begin! The XL1 is definitely the future, today; it’s not only extraordinary and futuristic to look at, but is a world-beater in many areas; world-beating fuel efficiency of 313mpg; world’s lowest official CO2 figure for a liquid-fuelled car at 21g/km of CO2; world’s most aerodynamic road-going production car. The XL1 opens up a whole new world.

An interesting hybrid of an 800cc two cylinder engine and an electric motor, the XL1 has a total output of 75PS; but, as the car only weighs 795kg, 75PS is more than enough.

With its gullwing doors, covered rear wheels and low to the road looks, the XL1 is a complete head-turner. You might notice what seems to be the total absence of door mirrors, that’s because; in the interests of aerodynamics they’ve been replaced by door cameras and the images are displayed on two screens inside the car.

If you want head-turning looks, combined with planet-saving technology then the Volkswagen XL1 is your dream car, it retails at £98,600 and it could be yours, on a PCP, for £1,900.78 a month, with an APR of 8.9%.

Find out more about the Audi R8 Spyder

Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSi V10 RWS

For sheer sexiness, sensational performance, intoxicating engine noise and sharp handling, it’s hard to beat the Spyder derivative of the Audi R8; not only can you go from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds, but you can feel the sun on your face while you’re doing it!

You need to be a little bit of a show-off to enjoy a convertible; the theatre of removing the roof always attracts attention and this supercar it’s a real showstopper; but, we say, what’s wrong with showing off?

With its virtual cockpit, wraparound dashboard and sumptuous leather this car is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. It’s a car that demands to be driven and the superlatives keep on coming from motoring journalists the world over. The RWS is a limited edition and there’ll only be 999 built, a mix of Spyder and Coupe and you could bag yours for just £1,409.30 a month on a PCP, APR 6.2%.

Find out more about the Range Rover Autobiography

Range Rover 4.4L SDV8 Autobiography

The Range Rover is an iconic car and the Autobiography is the Range Rover in its most exceptional form. Bad back? No problem in the Autobiography with its heated, cooled, massaging front seats, you could end up sat in there, going nowhere, whilst your back gets a rub!

For their Autobiography the Stafford Land Rover team chose a few optional extras; sensational 22” Turbine Alloy wheels, privacy glass, adaptive Xenon headlights and an SV bodykit.

Difficult to improve on perfection, but they have! All this adds up to £118,100 and it could be yours for £1331.68 a month, with an APR of 5.69%.

Find out more about the Homda NSX

Honda NSX

This is an amazing sports supercar that’s been designed with the driver at its very core. When you sit in the driver’s seat, you’re sat in front of the most technologically advanced road-car engine Honda have ever built.

As if the 3.5 litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine were not enough, there are three electric motors, one at the rear and two at the front, giving incredible extra boost. Hand-built the NSX is an awesome piece of automotive engineering.

The NSX has a stunning high glass finish, with two coats of primer, five coats of colour and two layers of clear coat. It’s allowed to cure and then it’s fine sanded, by hand, before the final two coats of clear coat. The result is a superb high gloss, which shows off the sinuous curves of this sensational car.

Head-turning, breath-taking, heart-stopping, this is a car made for superlatives and is priced at £189,995; it could be yours, on a hire purchase agreement, for £2,410 a month. Made for dreaming.

Find out more about the Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 3.0

Jeep is another iconic brand, indeed, whenever I hear the word it makes me think of that old TV show M*A*S*H, for me the Jeeps were as much the stars as the actors. There’s something ruggedly romantic and charming about a Jeep and our love affair with this stalwart of the USA auto-scene continues today.

So, if you want to off-road American style this latest Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers in every way. This is a truly clever SUV, with Selec-Terrain you can prime the Trailhawk for whatever lies ahead; auto, sand, mud, snow and rock. The air suspension then sets itself up accordingly.

A formidable beast off-road, the big Jeep is also fun to drive on the road and its eye-catching presence gives a real taste of America.

This is a truly butch and burly SUV and on a PCP you could drive away for £577.14 a month.

It may have a smaller engine than the Volkswagen Golf GTi, but it actually packs a bigger punch. With plenty of grip and speed in spades, this is a really fun car and the interior is sporty too; sleek and minimalist with leather and Alcantara bucket seats and a brilliant 9.7in touchscreen meaning you’ll always be connected through your smartphone.
