Land Rover has bolstered its Discovery range with the introduction of a new special edition model. Called the Metropolitan Edition, it sits at the very top of the Discovery range and brings a whole host of additional features to increase the comfort levels on the seven-seater SUV.
Building on R-Dynamic HSE trim, it features silver accents for the lower bumper, 22-inch alloy wheels with gloss grey detailing, black brake callipers, privacy glass and a sliding panoramic roof. There’s more equipment inside, too, with highlights including a head-up display, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a refrigerated section in the middle armrest.
Finbar McFall, Land Rover brand director, said: “The introduction of the Metropolitan Edition brings a new level of premium appeal to the Land Rover Discovery.
“The special edition model represents the flagship of the line-up and builds on the appeal of the R-Dynamic specification with exterior design enhancements and a suite of convenience-boosting technologies.”
Though the Discovery range kicks off at £55,100, the Metropolitan Edition commands a higher price tag of £73,250. Land Rover has also made a series of tweaks to its Defender off-roader. The 90 Hard Top can now be fitted with the D250 diesel engine with mild-hybrid assistance, while the entire range now benefits from an 11.4-inch infotainment display. High-specification X-Dynamic models get a black contrasting roof as standard, while Defender V8 buyers have the new option of Ebony or Ebony and tan leather seats.
