Plug-in hybrid models land with special-edition trim, though no word yet on UK availability

Jeep has revealed a ‘First Edition’ special trim for its upcoming plug-in hybrid variants of the Renegade and Compass crossovers.

Set to be offered on the 4x4e cars, this grade offers a comprehensive level of equipment. Keyless entry, electric-folding door mirrors, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display, parking sensors and a reversing camera come as standard.

There’s also LED headlights for no extra cost on the Renegade, with the Compass featuring Bi-Xenon units. There are also two packages available for both cars, which alters the alloy wheels. ‘Off-Road’ brings 17-inch units, with ‘Urban’ adding 19-inch alloys.

A choice of five colours is also on offer, while the First Edition models will also come with a mode 3 charging cable and an eight-year battery warranty.

Powering both cars is a 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine linked up to an electric motor, with the choice of either 187bhp or 237bhp outputs. An electric-only range of 31 miles is claimed for both cars, with each able to reach speeds of 81mph on electric alone.

There’s no word yet on UK pricing and availability of the Jeep Renegade and Compass 4xe First Editions, but we should hear more as a summer arrival for the PHEV models gets closer.
