Citroën scoops "best used MPV" title in diesel car and eco magazine used car top 50

Citroën scoops  "best used MPV" title in diesel car and eco magazine used car top 50

Citroën C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer have been awarded the coveted ‘Best Used MPV’ title in the 2020 Diesel Car & Eco Car magazine Used Car Top 50.

Once again, Citroën has triumphed in the Used Car Top 50 – a listing drawn up annually by Diesel Car & Eco Car magazine – with C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer winning the prize as the ‘Best Used MPV’ for 2020.

C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer were praised for their practicality, modularity and overall appeal as outstanding pre-owned family transport. The models were also recognised as being amongst the most comfortable, spacious and economical medium-sized people carriers on the market.

Diesel Car & Eco Car magazine’s respected team of experts examined more than 800 used cars to compile this definitive list of the best 50 used cars on sale today. The ranking was decided using a range of criteria, including purchase price, residual value, general competency and fitness for purpose, as well as being subjectively judged by the title’s expert reviewers. Each vehicle was then given a score out of 100 that decides the final placings.

Ian Robertson, Editor and Publisher of Diesel Car & Eco Car magazine, commented: “A stunning design means that Citroën’s people carriers look more avant-garde than frumpy, and a classy way of transporting your loved ones. The seven-seat Grand edition offers flexible seating arrangements and 2,181-litres of space with the back seats stowed away. The engines and gearboxes are good bedfellows, offering smooth, laid-back driving and the upper trim levels bring features like a powered tailgate and an electric passenger foot rest.”

C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer are user-friendly and family-oriented MPVs that provide ultimate comfort for both the driver and the passengers. With ingenious storage space, a suite of impressive technologies and outstanding fuel economy, the model remains the steadfast choice for many UK families.

Karl Howkins, Managing Director at Citroën UK, commented: “We’re thrilled to see C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer awarded this prestigious prize. We believe it showcases our commitment to providing the very best in quality and design for our customers, and it is a testament to our dedicated and hard-working design teams to win this important accolade.”

This latest accolade marks the 4th award presented to Citroen UK so far in 2020. Last year Citroen UK collected 35 awards across its range, a landmark year for the brand.

Citroën Berlingo wins second consecutive "MPV of the year" prize in What Car? Awards 2020

Citroën Berlingo wins second consecutive "MPV of the year" prize in What Car? Awards 2020

Citroën has scooped the prestigious ‘MPV of the Year’ title – for the second consecutive year – at the What Car? Awards 2020. The five-seat Berlingo PureTech 110 Feel medium (M) version particularly impressed the judging panel with its interior space, practicality and fuel efficiency. Karl Howkins, Citroën UK’s Managing Director, accepted the trophy on behalf of the brand during the glittering ceremony earlier this evening at Grosvenor House hotel, London.

Citroën Berlingo has already won multiple UK honours since its launch late in 2018, including Auto Express ‘MPV of the Year’ 2019 and ‘Best Medium Family Car’ in the Parkers New Car Awards 2020.

Steve Huntingford, Editor at What Car?, commented: “Berlingo was designed with family life as the overriding priority, and its lofty ceiling means loading children into car seats will be no bother, while sliding rear doors make light work of tight car parks. Our engine recommendation, the 109bhp turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol, is strong enough to ferry around an MPV full of people and luggage. What’s more, the Berlingo has a soft and relaxed ride that will please passengers. To top it all off, the Berlingo offers a more appealing interior than its rivals, while also costing less.”

Citroën Berlingo boasts outstanding interior modularity with a class-leading boot volume (up to the parcel shelf) of between 775-litres on medium (M) versions and 1,050-litres on XL versions, coupled with an exceptionally low load sill and a uniform shape to the load area.

Karl Howkins, Managing Director at Citroën UK, said: “It’s an honour to receive this award for Berlingo – especially as it is the second year in a row. We take pride in designing all of our cars with our Citroën customers in mind, and Berlingo is a perfect example of a car created for family life. We are delighted to have been recognised again at the prestigious What Car? Awards.”

Citroën wins second consecutive ‘comfort award" At annual Carwow Car of the year awards

After winning the comfort prize with C4 Cactus Hatch at carwow’s inaugural car of the year awards in 2018, Citroën has bagged the prestigious title again, this time with its latest model – New C5 Aircross SUV. Karl Howkins, Citroën UK’s Managing Director, accepted the trophy on behalf of the brand and the Citroën design team.

The awards were voted for by carwow’s team of reviewers, led by Editorial Director Mat Watson. The aim of the awards is to recognise and reward the best cars in the UK automotive market, reflecting the requirements and trends of carwow’s car buying audience. The carwow awards recognise the best cars in terms of Tech, Comfort, Value and Green Credentials, amongst a number of other categories.

The ‘Comfort Award’ identifies the car that stands out for unrivalled driver and passenger comfort. The panel of carwow judges praised New C5 Aircross SUV for its comfortable seats, second row modularity, outstanding space and smooth ride, all achieved thanks to Citroën’s Advanced Comfort Programme® that features Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® and Advanced Comfort seats.

The Citroën brand’s unique suspension system with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® – technology that integrates hydraulic bump stops to better control compression and rebound – ensures that the suspension travel is much more progressive, even on the most adverse of surfaces.

As for the seating, New C5 Aircross SUV features sumptuous Advanced Comfort seats, fitted as standard on the top ‘Flair’ and ‘Flair Plus’ trim levels, which have so far accounted for 97% of UK sales. With broad cushions and seat backs, they combine high-density foam at the heart of each seat, a thick, textured foam on the surface and electric adjustment on the driver’s side. This ensures optimum comfort on any journey.

It isn’t just the front seat occupants who can relax in optimum comfort either. In the rear, three individual sliding, folding and reclining seats – and best in class boot volume of up to 720 litres – ensure there is plenty of space for all the family to travel in unrivalled comfort.

Mat Watson, Editorial Director at carwow, commented: “The pressure to make modern cars more stylish, agile, but also comfortable is a constant headache for engineers. Big wheels and taut suspension rarely equal a cosseting ride. C5 Aircross focuses on style and comfort first, as an SUV should, and we love it for that.”

Karl Howkins responded: “It’s an honour to receive the comfort award for New C5 Aircross SUV from carwow. With the Citroën Advanced Comfort programme, we continue our aim of being the reference for total comfort in the automotive industry. Citroën’s latest model, New C5 Aircross SUV, embodies outstanding modularity and comfort, which makes it a perfect choice for packing up and heading out on a family adventure in style.”

Double win for double chevrons: Citroën honoured at Auto Express New Car Awards 2019

Citroën celebrated another successful year at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2019. C3 Aircross Compact SUV was named ‘Small SUV of the Year’ and New Berlingo XL was crowned ‘MPV of the Year’. Citroën’s Grand C4 SpaceTourer was also ‘Highly Commended’ in the MPV category. The awards ceremony took place in The Ballroom of the Hilton London Bankside on Tuesday 9 July 2019.

Auto Express’ experienced panel of judges has bestowed Citroën once more with two of the most prestigious accolades at the New Car Awards 2019, the ‘Small SUV of the Year’ and ‘MPV of the Year’.

The New Car Awards showcases the everyday excellence in the UK’s new car market, with over 25 awards that bring together different manufacturers, displaying the very best of the automotive industry. Over the last 12 months, the Auto Express team have been analysing each new vehicle to enter the market with particular focus on technology, safety, comfort, design and value.

Citroën’s C3 Aircross Compact SUV has succeeded in winning the ‘Small SUV of the Year’ award for the second year in a row. The judges of the Auto Express panel praised the C3 Aircross for its spacious interior, modularity and practicality. Thanks to the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, C3 Aircross offers an unrivalled sense of well-being for all passengers with wealth of interior space and innovative technologies.

Furthermore, Citroën’s Grand C4 SpaceTourer MPV was ‘Highly Commended’ in the MPV category as it brings unrivalled comfort levels thanks to new technology and intelligent design. The judges took note of its versatile and welcoming space that adapts to everyone’s lifestyle making it ideal for families.

Auto Express Editor-in-chief, Steve Fowler, commented; The Citroen C3 Aircross is something a bit different to the norm in the small-SUV class, but all the better for it. Its quirky design, spacious and comfortable cabin, and rock-bottom running costs propel it straight to the top of the class. It’s wonderful that Citroen has looked to its heritage and individuality to inspire the C3 Aircross without becoming a pastiche of itself. This model is a stand-out car because it treads its own path so successfully.

Referring to New Berlingo XL, Steve Fowler commented; Citroen’s run of success in our MPV of the Year category is amazing. This year marks another win for the company, but with a new model. We love the no-nonsense approach to the MPV formula adopted by the seven-seat Berlingo XL. It’s very well priced, effortlessly practical and comfortable – all the things we look for in an MPV. Plus it’s better to drive than ever before.

Citroën UK’s Managing Director, Karl Howkins, said; “We are thrilled to have won two of the top prizes at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2019. It shows Citroën’s true dedication through the years, to building innovative models with high levels of technology to meet ever-growing customer demand.”

“We are also extremely pleased that Grand C4 SpaceTourer has been highly commended. The multi-award winning car has always been popular amongst families because of its practicality, space and comfort which is testament to the excellent design of the car. All of our models are inspired by our customers and that’s why they are so frequently recognised as the best on the market.”

New Citroen Berlingo Wins 2019 Autobest Award

New Citroen Berlingo Wins 2019 Autobest Award

The leisure activity vehicle (LAV) was voted Best Buy Car alongside the Peugeot Rifter and Vauxhall Combo Life.

Every year since 2001, Autobest has recognised the car receiving the highest number of votes from 31 esteemed motoring journalists representing 31 European countries.

The cars are assessed on 13 criteria, including value for money, design, comfort and technology, as well as service quality and spare parts availability in the retail network.

This is the first time in Autobest history that the "Best Buy Car of Europe" prize has been awarded to the same manufacturer two years in a row.

Following in the footsteps of last year's winner - Citroën C3 Aircross Compact SUV – the new Berlingo fought off strong competition to win the 18th edition of the award, on the strength of its modernised design and selection of engines.

New Citroën Berlingo is an adaptive model that aims itself at being a smart buy for families or seniors, who would find the vehicle’s spaciousness and practicality particularly useful.

The award, which recognises the passenger car derivative of New Berlingo, adds to the prestigious title of International Van of the Year 2019 earned by its light commercial vehicle counterpart, New Citroën Berlingo Van, in September at the Hanover Motor Show.

The top-selling Citroën model in nearly 17 countries in 2017, Berlingo remains the second best-selling Citroën model behind C3.

In total, over 3.3 million units have been produced since it was first launched in 1996. Now with a more modern look and featuring all the styling cues of the refreshed Citroën range, New Berlingo is an integral part of the Brand's renewal.

More than 13,000 orders have been placed for New Citroën Berlingo since it was launched in September 2018, and it is sure to make a major contribution to Citroën’s growing sales.

Citroën's Grand C4 Picasso Voted 'Best Used MPV' in Auto Express Used Car Awards

Citroën’s Grand C4 Picasso (now known as Grand C4 SpaceTourer) has been awarded ‘Best Used MPV’ in this year’s Auto Express Used Car Awards. The stylish MPV was applauded for its reliability, family-friendly practicality and outstanding comfort.

The panel of judges were also impressed by the Grand C4 Picasso’s efficient engines, which deliver the performance needed for a car in its category. With best-in-class space, the multi-award winning MPV continues to be both an industry and a family favourite.

Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief at Auto Express commented; “The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso faced another year of strong competition from larger seven-seater MPVs. Despite this, the model was a clear winner due to its remarkable spaciousness, versatility and family-friendly interior. In addition, the Citroën C1 city car was shortlisted in the ‘Used Car of the Year’ category at the prestigious awards ceremony.

FirstCar is the dedicated resource for learner and newly qualified drivers in the UK. The FirstCar Awards recognise and reward companies that lead the way for new drivers, by showcasing the best cars and products available in this important sector of the market, as well as celebrating excellence and innovation in driver training.

Approved Driving Instructors expect a lot from their cars. As well as being an ideal learning environment for their students, a driving instructor's vehicle must often double as a practical everyday drive. Citroën’s C3 was praised for being reliable, safe, easy to drive, affordable to run and easy to live with.

David Motton, FirstCar’s Editor, said; "The C3 is a car that instructors will enjoy driving and their pupils will be excited to learn in. Not only is it a characterful and stylish car, it has a long list of safety equipment as standard. Useful innovations like the built-in personal safety camera help the C3 stand out in a competitive field."

The 2018 judging panel was drawn from FirstCar's editorial team, as well as experts from the Approved Driving Instructor and road safety professions. Members of the panel included David Motton, FirstCar's Editor and UK Car of the Year juror; Paul Caddick, Editor of Intelligent Instructor; and Richard Dredge, Motoring Editor of Intelligent Instructor.
The National Associations Strategic Partnership, which is formed of the three main associations supporting Approved Driving Instructors – Approved Driving Instructors National Joint Council (ADINJC), Driving Instructors Association (DIA); and Motor Schools Association (MSA GB) – helped judge the driving instructor awards.

All of the FirstCar award winners will be recognised in future editions of FirstCar’s magazines, as well as online at www.firstcar.co.uk and through FirstCar’s social media channels.

Souad Wrixen, Citroën UK’s Marketing Director, commented; “We are honoured that the Citroën C3 has won the ‘Driving Instructor Car of the Year’ title. This accolade clearly reinforces the numerous qualities of the upbeat and stylish Citroën C3 supermini.

“As a brand that is dedicated to delivering an outstanding mobility experience for all of our customers, Citroën was also proud to sponsor the FirstCar ‘National Driving School of the Year’ award, which was won by RED Driving School. Citroën believes it is important to recognise the essential role driving schools play in educating new drivers, ensuring better skills behind the wheel and safer roads for everyone in the UK.”

New Citroën Grand C4 Picasso Named 'Best Seven-Seater' In CarBuyer Awards 2017

Citroën Grand C4 Picasso scoops the ‘Best Seven-Seater’ prize in the prestigious Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2017. New Grand C4 Picasso was chosen by the Carbuyer road-test team because of its running costs, comfort, practicality, reliability and safety, as well as its new technologies, value-for-money and optional extras.

Carbuyers Best Seven-Seater of 2017, the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso

New Citroën Grand C4 Picasso has taken the ‘Best Seven-Seater’ prize in the Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2017. The ultra-practical family car was recognised for its superior comfort and innovative technologies, alongside a supremely spacious and versatile interior.

Carbuyer announced its Best Cars for 2017 at London’s Curzon Bloomsbury Cinema on Wednesday. The Carbuyer awards celebrate and recognise the very best cars available in the UK. The awards are driven by the popular Carbuyer.co.uk Best Cars section, which includes in-depth analysis on every new car on sale today.

Stuart Milne, Editor at Carbuyer, said;

Citroën’s Grand C4 Picasso looks great - but that beauty is more than skin deep. It's such a well thought-out car, with plenty of glass giving a light and airy feel inside. There's plenty of space for seven, and with touches such as three ISOFIX mounting points, it's perfectly designed for family life. It's just as good out on the road, with a wide range of engines as well as a comprehensive range of safety equipment meaning your family will stay safe should the worst happen.

Chris Cheetham, Citroën UK’s Marketing Director, commented;

The awards just keep coming for this great family car and that’s because it really is the best vehicle in its class. Following the ‘Best MPV’ award from Auto Express earlier this year, we are honoured to be able to add the accolade of ‘Carbuyer Best Seven-Seater 2017’ to the list. This award is testament to our design and engineering teams, and is evidence that style doesn’t need to lose out to practicality.

New Citroen C3 has scooped the award for Supermini of the year, and Grand C4 Picasso has eclipsed its rivals to take the MPV of the year prize in the ContractHireAndLeasing.com awards 2016/2017.

The awards judges highlighted the new C3's 'reassuring' running costs and 'engaging handling' and described Grand c4 Picasso as simply 'one of the best MPV's available today'.

New Citroen C3; winner of supermini of the year awardAward winning Citroen Grand C4 Picasso MPV car in white

New Citroën C3 has fought off some exceptionally strong B-segment competition to win Best Supermini in the Contract Hire and Leasing.com Car of the Year Awards 2016/2017, with New Citroën Grand C4 Picasso also sweeping the competition aside to take the Best MPV title.

The Contract Hire and Leasing.com judges said;

Reassuring running costs, engaging handling, distinctive looks, and a wide variety of personalisation options make the C3 a fun lease.

The judges continued;

With the same styling cues of the C4 Cactus, it gets a much more inspired look than its forebear. But those individualistic air bumps aren’t the only reason it wins our supermini of the year award. The C3’s update extends well beyond the bodywork, thanks to an interior that features possibly the comfiest seats ever to grace a small car. Its four doors and 300-litre boot means practicality is just as high on the priority list as comfort. too.

Citroën’s fun New C3 includes the world’s first fully integrated dashcam, ConnectedCAM Citroën™. The forward facing camera, positioned just behind the rear-view mirror, adds both fun and function to the car. The driver can take pictures in complete safety, and record or share video via their social media channels. The camera can also record vital “before and after” footage in the event of an accident. In addition, New C3’s range of efficient PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines all feature low emissions and low fuel consumption, contributing to low overall running costs.The Grand C4 Picasso is no stranger to awards ceremonies, its strengths as a stylish and spacious MPV having earned it a long list of awards since it was originally launched in 2014.

The Contract Hire and Leasing.com judges praised New Grand C4 Picasso, describing Citroën’s family seven-seater as;

One of the best MPVs available today, the Grand C4 Picasso majors on  style.

They went on to say;

In the British lexicon, the name Picasso is now probably more associated with MPVs than it is with surrealist paintings, and the updated Grand C4 Picasso ensures this trend continues. This behemoth seven-seater gets a flexibility that makes it the perfect family load-lugger.

Huge infotainment and driver info screens now dominate the dashboard, which along with the spaceship looks give the Grand Picasso a futuristic flavour. Some people carriers can be rather drab, but not this one. The Grand Picasso doesn’t try and apologise for what it is, and that’s why it’s a winner.

Available since 3 January 2017, New Citroën C3 has already started racking up awards, having been honoured with the “Best Urbanite” title in BBC TopGear Magazine’s ‘Best Cars in the World’ issue.

The Best MPV award from Contract Hire and Leasing.com is the second award that New Grand C4 Picasso has earned already for 2017, following the Best Seven-Seater prize in the Carbuyer Best Car Awards.

Paul Horrell, BBC Top Gear Magazine commented:

The city is where we’re seen. So we want a car that dresses us well, and has some sense of place. This little Citroën is right for town. It’s modern – modish, even, in its details – but because of its simplicity and balanced proportions, it’s probably timeless too.

Chris Cheetham, Citroën UK’s Marketing Director, said:

We’re very proud that New Citroën C3 has been recognised with such a prestigious award. New C3 stands out in a competitive market as a visually striking model that combines comfort and practicality, making it the ideal choice for anyone living or working in the city.

Citroen C3 Picasso Puretech 110 Edition is named 'Best Buy for Less than £20,000' in the 'MPV' category at the What Car? Car Of The Year Awards

The Citroën C3 Picasso PureTech 110 Edition was recognised for its practicality, comfort and class leading engine earlier this evening, winning the title ‘MPV Best Buy for less than £20,000’ at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2017

Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, commented;

The funky Citroën C3 Picasso 1.2 litre petrol is a very practical family car, especially for smaller households. That little engine is actually a real plus point. It offers peppy performance around town and doesn’t feel overworked on motorway journeys, with plenty of low-rev pull for easy progress.

The C3 Picasso is comfortable, too. Its ride is soft and the driving position is excellent; you sit quite high up, so get a clear view of the road ahead, helped by the wraparound windscreen and thin pillars. The entry-level Edition spec comes with plenty of kit, including 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors. If you need to transport your family on a limited budget, the characterful and nippy C3 Picasso should be at the top of your shortlist.

Chris Cheetham, Citroën’s Marketing Director in the UK, said;

It’s an honour to be acknowledged in these prestigious awards again in 2017. The C3 Picasso PureTech 110 Edition won through at its price-point last year, so we’re excited that the vehicle is living up to its practical and affordable title. MPVs must be able to cope with family life and that’s exactly what we have designed C3 Picasso to do. With future ideas, such as the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, coming to fruition across the range in the coming years, our products will continue to shine and stand out.

This is the second consecutive year that the What Car? judging panel has recognised the family-friendly Citroën C3 Picasso PureTech 110 Edition as an ‘MPV Best Buy’, after a series of prior wins with different versions of the same car in the ‘MPV Best Buy for less than £16,000’ category.

The family-friendly practicality and low running costs of the Citroën C3 Picasso PureTech 110 manual Edition was recognised at the 2016 What Car? Car of the Year Awards, when it was named ‘MPV Best Buy for less than £16,000’

Speaking on behalf of the What Car? judging panel, Haymarket Automotive’s Editorial Director, Jim Holder, commented;

The C3 Picasso might be small, but it’s an eminently practical car. You sit quite high up, the visibility is excellent all-round, the boot is big and square-shaped, and the interior feels airy and spacious; the rear seats are split 60/40 and slide forwards and backwards for added interior versatility.” Jim continued; “[The] doors open wide and have broad apertures, so access is great if you’ve got child seats to reach in for.

In addition to the C3 Picasso’s design and versatility, the judges were impressed with the choice of engines. They singled out the 1.2 litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol as their top choice. Jim Holder concluded;

It does a fine job in the C3 Picasso, delivering nippy responses around town, and coping well on the motorway. It achieved nearly 50mpg in our real-world economy tests, too. Ultimately, the C3 Picasso may be all the MPV smaller families could ever need.

Chris Cheetham, Citroën’s Marketing Director in the UK, said; “It is always an honour to receive such prestigious recognition for one of our cars, but it is especially gratifying when that award recognises the car for exactly what it was designed to be. The C3 Picasso is made with family life and family journeys in mind, so to win this accolade and hear those comments from the expert judges is very pleasing indeed.”
