Upcoming Car Releases for 2021

We’re coming towards the end of 2020 and if your car has seen better days, you might be considering an upgrade. You’re in luck because 2021 looks set to be an exciting year in the motoring world with some great new cars being released.

We can look forward to some exciting new developments in electric cars and autonomous driving, as well as some exciting new tech that takes the driving experience to a whole new level. If you are planning to buy a new car in 2021, these are some of the most exciting new cars launching in the coming months.

Electric Vehicles

Audi Q4 E-Tron

Audi has been making waves in the electric car sector for a few years now and drivers eagerly await the release of their 4th electric vehicle, the Q4 E-Tron, in 2021. This compact crossover is designed with luxury in mind and it will be a big competitor for other electric SUVs, like the Tesla Model Y.

The Q4 E-Tron will be the first Audi electric vehicle to use the Volkswagen MEB modular electric vehicle platform and it boasts an 82.0 kWh battery that gives great mileage and impressive power.

A 4-wheel drive system with an electric motor powering each axle creates 300 horsepower and a reported 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds. It won’t match the speed of the petrol-powered Audi Q5 SUV, but for an electric vehicle, it’s still very impressive, especially when compared with other luxury crossovers on the market. If you’re looking for an electric vehicle that offers comfort and performance, the Audi Q4 E-Tron is one of the best new cars in 2021.

The range on this electric vehicle is equally as impressive as the performance. Initial figures suggest that it will do 280 miles on a single charge, although these numbers may change slightly on release. There’s no need to worry about charging times either because Audi claims that it will reach 80% charge after just 30 minutes. The days of worrying about the range and charging times on electric vehicles are soon to be over if you invest in the new Q4 E-Tron.

It’s not just about what’s under the hood either. The latest electric vehicle from Audi also delivers in the interior. Inside, you will find a showcase of all of the latest gadgets from Audi. There is a great infotainment system, controlled by an intuitive touchscreen, which is cleverly angled towards the driver for easy access. The faux suede interior with metal trim provides the luxury that you expect from an Audi and, even though it’s only a four-seater, there is plenty of room inside.

The Audi Q4 E-Tron is one of the most exciting new cars launching in 2021 if you want a spacious, well performing electric vehicle. In October 2020, testing versions of the Q4 E-Tron were released and although it has been confirmed that it will go on sale in 2021, Audi is yet to confirm exactly when.

Jaguar I-Pace

Although the new 2021 Jaguar I-Pace falls slightly short of the Audi Q4 E-Tron where distance and charging capabilities are concerned, it proves that electric cars can deliver in other areas and you don’t have to sacrifice driving experience if you want to do your bit for the planet.

This new version of the I-Pace has a few significant improvements that iron out some of the difficulties with the old model. Tech is at the forefront here, with the addition of a new 360 degree camera system, wireless charging, and a complimentary 4G data plan for all customers. The infotainment system has been upgraded as well so it’s much easier to use than the old version. But the best addition to the new I-Pace is a feature that directs you to the nearest charging station and tells you how long it will take to charge the battery, so you don’t need to worry about running out of juice on a long road trip. The charger has been improved as well, so it should take 8.6 hours to recharge a dead battery as opposed to 12.6 as it did on the old model. However, if you opt for the fast charging port, Jaguar claims that you can charge up to 80% battery in just 40 minutes.

Just like the Audi Q4 E-Tron, the new Jaguar I-Pace has an all-wheel drive system with two motors powering the axles. This puts out an impressive 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque, so the I-Pace accelerates like a dream, easily outmatching the petrol and diesel cars on the road. The air suspension and intuitive steering feedback make for a very comfortable ride and the heavy battery pack under the floor creates a low centre of gravity, giving the I-Pace some added agility. Electric cars can be great fun to drive and the new I-Pace will prove that.

The interior is incredibly spacious, so the I-Pace will be a great option if you want a luxury car that is still practical for the family. You have the option to customise the interior with all sorts of great add-ons, like four-zone climate control, heated seats and a wide range of different leather upholstery styles. It comes with a great infotainment system, controlled by a 10 inch touchscreen, with a smaller screen below for managing the climate control. The standard sound system is good but there is an option to upgrade to an improved one if you like.

The Jaguar I-Pace is one of the best new cars in 2021 if you’re looking for an electric vehicle that delivers on style and driving experience without sacrificing performance. You can pick one up from Spring 2021

Volkswagen Golf R

The Volkswagen Golf is the most popular hatchback in the world, so fans were naturally disappointed when the release of the eighth-generation Golf R was pushed back due to technical issues. But it is set to finally arrive in 2021 and it will definitely be worth the wait.

Like the previous iterations of the Golf R, the 2021 version has a few minor differences in style to the standard Golf. The slim headlights are still there but there is the noticeable addition of two sporty struts on the lower grille. The Golf R sits a lot lower than the standard model and the sporty rims have some nice thin spokes to hide the brake callipers. There is also an added wing on the back, which is nice and elegant rather than big and flashy.

The 2.0 litre engine provides 330 horsepower to all four wheels, giving a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds, compared with the previous model, which came in at 4.6. It also features an automatic DSG7 gearbox, which gives fast, smooth gear changes.

There are no electric options for the new Golf R but Volkswagen have promised a whole host of exciting tech that will completely revolutionise the driving experience, although they are yet to release any details about what that might entail. However, based on their previous offerings, it’s sure to be something exciting.

The interior is likely to be much the same as the standard Golf, so expect it to be just as comfortable and stylish as it is fast.

If you’re a Volkswagen Golf fan, the new 2021 Golf R has to be one of the most exciting new cars launched next year. Pre Orders are available in the UK in December. The Golf R is expected to go on general sale from early 2021.

Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is another favourite among hatchback fans and the eleventh-generation model is set to be a big hit. Although the hatchback model is always popular, there will be a sedan version available if that suits your needs better. You will have the choice of a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder engine, giving 158 horsepower, or a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine, giving 174 or 180 horsepower, depending on the model that you choose.

The driver assist features are one of the most notable things about the new Honda Civic. It comes complete with automated emergency braking, lane assist, and a great cruise control system, so if safety is your priority, you can’t go wrong with this new iteration of the Civic.

The 2021 Honda Civic is a prime example of a car that delivers on power without sacrificing fuel efficiency. The four-cylinder engine is one of the best on the market, offering a great balance between power and comfort. The standard Civic handles beautifully as a result of its responsive steering, but if you want an even better driving experience, the Sport versions are ideal.

The no-nonsense interior of the Honda Civic gives everything that a small car driver needs without any of the bells and whistles. There are plenty of clever storage cubbies and the boot space is impressive, making the new Civic perfect for families.

The new touchscreen interface for the infotainment system is a marked improvement on older models and the addition of a volume knob and some hard buttons make life a lot easier for the driver. The two USB charging ports in the front seats are also a welcome detail for long drives.

Anybody that is a fan of the Honda Civic should definitely be excited about the new model as it’s one of the best new cars in 2021. Honda has confirmed that the new Civic will be available for purchase in Spring 2021.

Land Rover Discovery

Land Rover has given the Discovery an overhaul for 2021 with the hope that they can kick start sales of one of their previously very popular models. The exterior has been given a facelift, there are some great additions on the inside, and there are also some great new hybrid engine options available.

Anybody that is familiar with old Discovery models will still be happy with the 2021 version because, even though quite a few changes have been made, they are quite subtle. Improved LED headlights have been added and the front bumper and grille have been adjusted to make it look a bit more like the old Discovery Sport editions.

The interior has been kitted out with a much improved infotainment system, which includes a touchscreen that is almost 50% bigger than it is in previous models. The smartphone connectivity system allows you to control a brand new air filtration system from your phone, and you have access to some great new tech features like wireless charging.

Under the bonnet, you have the option of two diesel engines and two petrol engines. Alternatively, you can go for the new hybrid option for better fuel consumption and a more eco-friendly driving experience.

As you’d expect, the Discovery has plenty of clever storage options and all the boot space that you could need.

The 2021 Discovery is perfect for long-time fans that want an update, as well as newcomers, which is why it’s one of the most exciting new cars in 2021. It is available for order right now and the new models are expected to ship in early 2021.

Honda CR-V

If you are looking for a versatile crossover that does everything well, the Honda CR-V is one of the most exciting new cars launching in 2021. It looks stylish and the spacious interior is packed with plenty of great storage solutions, so it’s the perfect choice for people that love long road trips, or big families.

For the first time, Honda has put a turbocharged engine in one of its crossovers, and the results are amazing. It kicks out 190 horsepower, and when paired with one of the best continuously variable transmissions available, it makes for an amazing driving experience. The excellent steering response and powerful brakes finish the package, making the Honda CR-V an absolute joy to drive.

If you are looking for a more eco-friendly option, you should look out for the hybrid version being launched in 2021 as well. The 2.0 litre engine and two electric motors combine to give an impressive 212 horsepower, but the ride is still very smooth. It also has a great noise cancelling feature on the audio system to cancel out any drone noise, which can be a big problem in some electric vehicles.

For anybody that has driven previous CR-V models, the interior will feel very familiar, but with a few welcome upgrades. Simple faux wood and chromed plastic make for a great contemporary feel, which still feels comfortable. You won’t be short of storage space either as the CR-V matches or beats most crossovers in this category.

If safety is a priority for you, the Honda CR-V is one of the most exciting new cars launching in 2021. In initial tests, it has a 5-star crash test rating and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named it a top safety pick. The safety is improved even further by some amazing driver assist features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning, and automated braking systems.

The Honda CR-V is one of the best cars in 2021 for anybody that wants safety, performance, and plenty of storage space. The 2021 Honda CR-V will be released just before the beginning of the year, becoming available for purchase in December 2020.

Volkswagen Tiguan

The new 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the most stylish crossovers coming to market next year, but that doesn’t mean that it sacrifices practicality and performance. You get a great choice of high performance engines and the interior is packed with some great tech features.

If you’re looking for something sporty that you can open up on back roads, the Tiguan isn’t for you, but that isn’t what it’s designed for. Instead, you get a reliable, comfortable driving experience that delivers all of the practicality that you want from a crossover. It still feels stable at high speeds and it handles perfectly on winding backroads.

You can get the Volkswagen Tiguan with a range of different petrol and diesel engines, and a manual or automatic gearbox. The best option for most people is the 1.5 litre petrol engine with 150 horsepower. It keeps up well on all roads and the fuel efficiency is great, making it perfect for the frugal driver. If you do a lot of miles and you want something a bit more substantial, you also have the option of the 2 litre engine which gets more miles to the gallon and is available in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Alternatively, if you want to reduce your carbon footprint, you can opt for the hybrid model. The 1.4 litre petrol engine is combined with an electric battery and motor, which allows you to drive 30 miles on electricity alone.

The interior layout of the Volkswagen Tiguan is simple but effective. Everything is laid out in a logical way, making operation as easy as possible for the driver. The infotainment system is simple to control using the 8 inch touchscreen with intuitive sliders, and you get a separate screen for the climate control so you can easily adjust the temperature while driving.

All of this performance and practicality is housed in a stylish, elegant body that looks so much nicer than a lot of other crossovers on the market. That’s why the Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the most exciting cars in 2021. The standard Tiguan is available now, but the hybrid version is expected in early 2021.

SEAT Ateca

SEAT ateca fr

The first iteration of the SEAT Ateca, launched in 2016, was a surprise hit. Even though it was their first attempt at an SUV of any kind, it was one of the most popular crossovers of that year. Now, the new 2021 version builds on that success and it’s set to be one of the most exciting new cars launching next year.

The SEAT Ateca has been given a facelift in this new version. The bumpers are bigger and the front grille is much deeper. You can also enjoy the addition of some new LED headlights on the front and back.

Changes have been made under the bonnet as well. The tweaked three-cylinder 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine is up to 10% more fuel efficient than the previous model. The 1.5 litre version is able to switch two of its cylinders on and off, depending on the driving conditions, to conserve even more fuel.

The new Ateca has some revolutionary safety features installed as well. There is an amazing warning system that sounds an alarm if the driver takes their hands off the wheel for more than 15 seconds. If the warning is ignored, the car will pull over automatically. It also comes fitted with advanced collision warning systems and blind spot monitors, which can trigger the automatic braking system.

The upgrades to the interior are very significant too. The 8 way electric seating adjustment system makes it so easy to find the perfect driving position. The steering wheel has been altered to make it more comfortable for the driver too. The new infotainment system comes with an 8.25 inch touchscreen but the system can also be controlled with voice activation. Smartphone connection has been improved and more USB ports have been added, so all of your passengers can stay connected.

The original SEAT Ateca was a big hit when it was released in 2016 and the latest model builds on everything that was great about it, so it’s set to be one of the best new cars in 2021. In order to get a jump on the competition, SEAT actually released the Ateca on the 9th September this year.
