German tuner takes covers off 1,036bhp Audi R8

A 612bhp Audi R8 is quite a lot for most people’s standards.

But what if you want your supercar to come with a bit more oomph?

Well, German tuner Wheelsandmore might be able to help.

Called the ‘Apocalypticar’, the firm has upped the R8’s output up to 1,036bhp and 1,000Nm of torque.

The base 5.2-litre V10 engine hasn’t seen many changes, but Wheelsandmore has fitted a set of turbochargers to the originally naturally-aspirated engine to increase the power.

A few other changes have been made as well, with a Capristo exhaust system fitted to improve the noise and performance, and a software upgrade has also been included.

With those upgrades, the Apocalyticar can get from 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds and reach 222mph in just 20.3 seconds.

Existing second-generation R8 owners can get the upgrade for €66,387 (£61,203).

Components from KW have also been fitted to the display car, such as suspension upgrades – while mechanically adjustable options are also offered.

Specifically-designed forged wheels are also available, which cost €11,100 (£10,240).
